Course"
This
course meets the requirement of the Florida
Legislature regarding training on domestic
violence for all healthcare workers. This
one hour course is mandatory for license
renewals. This presentation utilizes our
multimedia approach as participants learn
about this prevalent crisis. We will discuss
the behaviors displayed by victims and
perpetrators as well as screening techniques
to determine potential victims. In the U.S.
an act of Domestic Violence occurs every 15
seconds often, resulting in fatal injuries.
Healthcare providers have numerous
opportunities to detect and intervene when
domestic violence is revealed.

Describe
the effects of Domestic Violence on all
victims.
Describe
technique to address domestic violence when
victims are reluctant to admit abuse.
Describe
screening procedures in patient assessment.
Identify
three types of abuse.
